ONE of Scotland’s best-known TV journalists is swapping 4.30am starts for the lure of press work and strategic planning at the Scottish Government.
Catherine Brown’s shifts at Macmillan Media – providing the Scottish news opt-out for breakfast TV programme, GMTV – meant having to wake up at 3.30am. She has been with Macmillan Media since November three years ago, and is leaving, as news editor for Scotland, to join the culture desk at the Scottish Government’s Communication Office.
Before joining Macmillan, she provided Tayside and Central Scotland news for the BBC Scotland website.
As well as GMTV, Catherine has also provided content for the Daily Record’s website and Irvine Bay Regeneration Company websites.
Her GMTV remit is being taken on by Katie Hunter, following an internal promotion. Meanwhile, the company has appointed BAFTA award-winning documentary filmmaker, James Alcock, to provide content for IBRC.
