ONE of Scotland’s best-known TV production companies has secured a trio of second series commissions from BBC Scotland.
The Comedy Unit has agreed with BBC Scotland to produce a second tranche of its three comedy series Burnistoun, Gary:Tank Commander and Limmy’s Show, to be broadcast on BBC Two.
Says Ewan Angus, commissioning editor, TV, at BBC Scotland: “The new commissions underline our commitment to develop innovative and distinctive comedy from Scotland.”
Glasgow-based The Comedy Unit is part of the RDF Media Group. Says The Comedy Unit creative director, Rab Christie: “It’s unusual for one series to resonate so quickly with the audience so for all three to be recommissioned is fantastic. The new comedies not only have fans in Scotland but, thanks to the internet, all over the world. The Comedy Unit and the writer-performers of each series are thrilled to be given the nod to go again and can’t wait for the public to see these new episodes.”
