THE Gaelic language digital TV channel, BBC ALBA, has secured the rights to broadcast, live, rugby union side, Glasgow Warriors’ attempt to reach the final of a play-off to determine the winner of their league.
Tomorrow sees Glasgow take on the Ospreys in the semi-final play-off of the Magners League. As well as live coverage of the contest, in Swansea, there will also be interviews – with, among others, the Scotland coach, Andy Robinson – and a review of the league season.
The action – which kicks off at 7.05pm – will also be available via the BBC iPlayer (both live and as a catch-up, for seven days). It will also be repeated on BBC ALBA on Saturday, at 11.30pm.
Says Alan Esslemont, head of content at BBC ALBA: “We are delighted to bring live coverage of this first ever play-off semi-final. With Glasgow Warriors making the final four, it seemed a perfect fit to have BBC ALBA broadcast what is sure to be a thrilling match. We very much look forward to delivering a fantastic programme for Scottish rugby fans across the country who are unable to travel to Swansea to support their team.”
The coverage will be produced by Scottish independent TV production company, mneTV, and hosted by Gaelic sports anchor, Hugh Dan MacLennan.
