THREE Scotland-based independent TV production companies are among seven throughout the UK to be offered the chance to speak directly with broadcasters in the USA and Canada.
The Comedy Unit, Hopscotch Films and Mentorn Scotland have been picked to participate in a project organised by Glasgow-based the Research Centre, which operates to develop business and talent in the audio-visual industry.
The project, The Research Centre International Programme, is now in its second year and meetings set up in North America include with HBO, Discovery, MTV and National Geographic.
Says the Research Centre: “Key executives from the participating companies will spend twelve months learning about opportunities in the international marketplace. They will hear from industry experts on distribution, rights exploitations, co-ventures and pitching to the top five international territories.”
Adds Carol Sinclair, managing director of the Research Centre: “We’ve worked with hundreds of independent production companies on building their businesses in the UK. Now we’re helping them make their international ambitions a reality.”
