THE news and current affairs department at BBC Scotland has made two, new correspondent appointments: in politics and local government.
Hard on the heels of announcing, last week, David Miller as its new environment correspondent, BBC Scotland has now made Raymond Buchanan its political corr. and Jamie McIvor its local government one.
Buchanan will be based at Holyrood along with Brian Taylor and Glenn Campbell and takes up his new post with immediate effect. He joins the Holyrood team following the departure earlier this year of BBC Scotland veteran, Kit Fraser. His most recent work has been as a reporter on the BBC News Channel.
Says BBC Scotland, McIvor’s brief, meanwhile, is “to focus on the key battleground of public spending and local services – an area which is likely to be a battleground of controversy as reductions in public spending kick in over the coming months and years”.
He has filled a number of different reporting roles in the newsroom at BBC Scotland’s HQ at Pacific Quay in recent years.
