BEGINS an announcement, issued this morning: “International speakers will come to share insight and best practice with senior public relations practitioners at Scotland’s first festival for public relations next June (Thursday 16th and Friday 17th).
“The inaugural festival, ‘The PRofessionals’, will take place ahead of the Edinburgh festivals in the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, with focus being firmly on innovation.
“It aims to engage the wider PR and communications community by bringing international speakers to Scotland to sharing best practice and insights to their success.”

AND the Sunday Mail was yesterday reporting – here, on page 18 of the paper – that a Scottish Parliament committee will be taking evidence, a week tomorrow, “over revelations [police] officers illegally spied on Sunday Mail sources”.

ALSO in the Sunday Mail, an interview (here) with choreographer, Arlene Phillips, who – says the paper – has “just started work on the forthcoming stage show, Jackie the Musical, a production based on the photo stories and problem pages of the Dundee-based teen magazine”.

FIVE magazines have made it to the shortlist of a people’s vote being organised in advance of the Scottish Magazine Awards, taking place later this month.
The general public have until a week today to register their backing, via Twitter and specifically the hashtag, #SMAPeoplesVote.
The quintet were chosen via Twitter and their ‘votes’ will be carried over, to help determine the final winner.
They are Dumfries & Galloway Life – CN Group Magazines; Executive – Scottish Provincial Press; Historic Scotland – Think; Holyrood – Dods plc; and Scotland in Trust – Think.
The Scottish Magazine Awards are being organised by the Scots division of the Professional Publishers Association. They are being held a week on Wednesday, in Edinburgh.

BEGINS Claire McKim (here), in Scotland on Sunday: “A Scottish actress is campaigning for better roles for ethnic minorities in film, television and theatre in Scotland after she says she faced discrimination herself.”
And a couple of pages in, Brian Ferguson reports (here) claims that Scotland might have acquired a film studio ‘for free’.
