BEGINS the BBC (here): “Kamal Ahmed, the BBC’s business editor, is to become the BBC’s new economics editor, replacing Robert Peston.
“Ahmed, who joined the BBC in 2014, said he was “delighted and privileged to be moving to this new, connected, role”.
“Formerly business editor of the Sunday Telegraph, Ahmed has also worked for The Guardian, The Observer and the Equality and Human Rights Commission.”
But, before those roles, he was at the Lennox Herald and Scotland on Sunday (where he rose to become chief reporter) newspapers.

And the deadline is today for applications involving two vacancies being advertised on the board: The Courier newspaper is seeking a sub-editor (here), while The Oban Times is looking for a reporter, based in its Fort William officer (here).

BEGINS the News Media Association: “The Editors’ Code of Practice, under which the vast majority of Britain’s newspaper, magazine and news website journalists work, including those at the Financial Times, Guardian and Independent, has been revised to reflect the findings of the major review of the Code recommended by Lord Justice Leveson.”

AN investigation into the payment of low wages is being broadcast on Channel 4 on Monday evening.
And the company behind this latest episode in the Dispatches strand is Glasgow-based independent TV production company, Firecrest Films.
Low Pay Britain is being screened at 2000hours.

PS A Christmas episode of a consumer show made by Firecrest is being broadcast on Channel 4 a week on Monday. It follows a pilot episode of SuperShoppers aired during the summer and ahead of a series to be screened next year.
