THERE has been a new appointment to the board of STV Group plc.

Says STV: “Ian Steele will join the board [as a non-executive director] from 1 November 2015.

“[He] has over 30 years experience in corporate finance and the corporate advisory sector. During a 16-year career with Deloitte LLP, Ian undertook roles within corporate finance and global advisory services.

“For the past eight years, Ian sat on the UK board of the firm and fulfilled the role of senior partner.  Ian has recently joined the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.”

And begins another announcement from STV: “STV Productions and GroupM Entertainment has finalised a format deal for a new hard-hitting documentary series examining life behind prison bars – with leading Australian broadcaster, Nine Network.

“Prison: First & Last 24 Hours follows convicted criminals on the two most important days of any sentence: the first and the last 24 hours.

“The UK version of Prison: First & Last 24 Hours saw STV productions gain unprecedented access to four prisons in Scotland. It reached 300,000 viewers when it made its debut on Sky 1 [on Wednesday evening].”

THE BBC is one of a number of topics being considered by a Westminster inquiry into Scotland’s creative industries and which is convening on Monday in Glasgow.

The Scottish Affairs Select Committee has invited Bill Matthews, chair of Audience Council Scotland, to attend.
