THE chair of the body representing the Scots magazine sector has joined one of the country’s best-known contract publishing companies.
Neil Braidwood, who chairs the Professional Publishers Association (Scotland), has joined Paisley-based Connect Communications.
Insodoing, he brings the goodwill of the clients at CMYK Design which he founded in 1999.
The Keepers of the Quaich, The Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland and the John Muir Trust are just three of the membership organisations that will continue to have their publications produced by Braidwood under the Connect banner, and from its newly-expanded Edinburgh office.

THE recent Scots editor of The Sun newspaper is to be one of the key speakers at the upcoming annual conference of the Society of Editors.
Says the SoE, here: “David Dinsmore will make his first key speech as the new chief operating officer for [Sun publishers] News UK at the Society of Editors’ annual conference next month.
“In a speech billed as ‘The enduring relevance of newspapers’, Dinsmore is expected to reflect on the lessons of how a big year in British politics has been reported.”

THE launch yesterday of a new-look The Scotsman is being supported by a six-figure advertising campaign, including on Edinburgh and Glasgow taxis.
Says a media release issued by the paper’s publisher, Johnston Press: “Created and planned by creative agency Stack – who won the business in May this year after a pitch – the campaign will fully run across print, digital, radio and out of home for three weeks from Monday 5th October.
“It will be displayed across LCD screens within Haymarket station, transvision screens at Waverley station, and will be wrapped around the body of 100 taxis spanning both Edinburgh and Glasgow.”

A FORMER programme director at Radio Clyde is one of four people chosen to receive a Fellowship of the Radio Academy.
Reports the website, radiotoday.co.uk, John Dash is joined by Steve Parkinson, Alison Winter, Jimmy Buckland.
