SEVERAL Scots entries have made it to the shortlist of an annual competition celebrating the best of UK commercial radio.
Scots entries make it into the likes of Journalist of the Year and the Station of the Year (<500,000 TSA) categories of the 2015 Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards.

A WELL-known Scots freelance journalist has had his first book turned into an audio book, voiced by Scots actor, Robbie Coltrane.
Peter Ross’s Daunderlust is a collection of many of his articles written when he worked for Scotland on Sunday newspaper, including spending time with the painters on the Forth Rail Bridge; inside the prison, Barlinne; and with naturists on Loch Lomond.

It’s a busy time for Peter, whose byline is often found in The Times, The Sunday Times, The BIG Issue magazine and www.scottishreview.net. On Thursday, he will find out if he is a winner in an annual competition, recognising the best of political writing. He has been nominated in the Journalism category of the Orwell Prize.

A CORRECTION in The Herald paper followed an adjudication by the Independent Press Standards Organisation, which yesterday announced it had partially upheld a complaint made against the newspaper.
It follows a complaint made on behalf of the former leader of Glasgow City Council, Steven Purcell.
Read IPSO’s conclusions here. The Herald, on page two, yesterday explained the complaint followed an interview with Purcell, published on December 15 last year, and that it was “happy to set the record straight” on a particular aspect of it.
Also, in yesterday’s IPSO announcement, it was mentioned that a complaint (here) made against the Daily Record had not been upheld.

BEGINS The Herald’s Grieg Cameron: “Advertising agency, The Union, has been selected to create a new global campaign for VisitScotland.
“The agreement will cover all forms of media across the UK as well as the tourism agency’s international markets.
“The Union, which has the bulk of its 85 staff in Edinburgh, said it will use its international agency network, Worldwide Partners, to implement the campaign overseas.”
