THE shortlist for this year’s Scottish Press Awards has been announced.
The competition – now in its 36th year and run by the Scottish Newspaper Society – will unveil its winners at a ceremony on the 16th of next month, including the titles, Journalist of the Year and Newspaper of the Year.

THE year-on-year circulation in Scotland of The Times newspaper has increased, according to the latest official figures.
Says newspapers auditing body, ABC, the average circulation in Scotland of the paper during last month was 18,124 – up 2.1 per cent on the average of 17,759 during February last year.
The paper was the only national daily or Sunday newspaper to experience a year-on-year increase between February last year and last month.

THE online radio station, Celtic Music Radio, this evening is broadcasting an interview with the head of the Gaelic language media service organisation, MG ALBA.
The interview – conducted on Thursday, with Donald Campbell – is being broadcast this evening at 1800.

MEANWHILE, MG ALBA is undertaking a series of public meetings, seeking the views of communities throughout Scotland on the future of Gaelic broadcasting.
Says the organisers: “Meetings will be held as follows and all are welcome to attend.”
