LEADING Scottish law firm, Aberdein Considine, has added an award-winning media specialist to its senior management team as part of its ambitious growth strategy.
Ryan Crighton is the firm’s new director of marketing and brings valuable experience to the role, having served in senior positions within the newspaper industry.
The 29 year-old joins from the DC Thomson media group, where he was The Press and Journal business editor and previously chief reporter. He was named the 2014 Scotland Business and Financial Journalist of the Year in recognition of his achievements with the newspaper, and was also voted the country’s Young Journalist of the Year in 2008.
The newly-created director of marketing role carries full responsibility for Aberdein Considine’s marketing functions, providing strategic support to the firm’s three divisions: property, legal and financial.
Ryan Crighton said: “I’m delighted to have joined Aberdein Considine and look forward to playing my part in what are exciting plans for continued growth. The firm has expanded significantly in recent years and the strength of the full service offering throughout Scotland is a very powerful message.
“I worked through a period of enormous change in the media industry, with digital platforms growing in significance. The approach across print, broadcast and web platforms has adapted and evolved but the principles of good communication remain consistent.
“We have a strong team in place at Aberdein Considine, which will be vital as we aim to build on the firm’s excellent reputation by reinforcing the full service capability and our Scotland-wide reach.”
Founded in Aberdeen, the firm now has a presence in key towns throughout the north and north-east as well as in Perth, Edinburgh, West Lothian and Glasgow. With 18 offices and more than 350 staff, turnover rose 16.7 per cent in the last financial year to £19 million.
Aberdein Considine partner, Rob Aberdein, said: “On behalf of the partners I welcome Ryan to the firm. This a board level appointment, which underlines the importance with which the marketing strategy and programme is viewed.
“Ryan joins with a very clear understanding of the firm and the sectors in which we operate as well as frontline experience in the Scottish media. He will be a key member of the senior team and will support future growth with an integrated, forward thinking approach.
“We have strengthened significantly throughout 2014, with a number of new partners, and this latest appointment demonstrates our commitment to the infrastructure of the firm and to driving forward with further expansion.”
