The Media in Figures: Average sales of national newspapers, UK-wide

UK-wide sales of the Daily Record averaged 216,179 between the months of March and August – according to official figures.

Says ABC (aka the Audit Bureau of Circulations), the average UK sale of the title between those months was down 14.83 per cent on the same period a year previously.

Other March-to-August average UK sales, says ABC, were as follows:

* Daily Mirror, 960,587 – down 7.61 per cent on 12 months’ previously;

* Daily Star, 471,859 – down 12.38 per cent on 12 months’ previously;

* The Sun, 2,071,890 – down 8.67 per cent;

* Daily Express, 482,813 – down 8.44 per cent;

* Daily Mail, 1,693,720 – down 5.98 per cent;

* Daily Telegraph, 516,227 – down 6.19 per cent;

* Financial Times, 220,294 – down 14.11 per cent;

* Guardian, 186,213- down 2.78 per cent;

* i, 287,987 – down 4.81 per cent;

* Independent, 63,188 – down 13.87 per cent;

* Times, 395,496 – no change;

* Daily Star – Sunday, 294,879 – down 12.33 per cent;

* The Sun (Sunday), 1,681,496 – down 11.58 per cent;

* Sunday Mail, 240,746 – down 16.37 per cent;

* Sunday Mirror, 932,632 – down 10.30 per cent;

* Sunday People, 374,150 – down 10.62 per cent;

* Sunday Express, 423,925 – down 8.81 per cent;

* Sunday Post, 211,225 – down 11.80 per cent;

* Mail on Sunday, 1,539,749 – down 7.89 per cent;

* Independent on Sunday, 101,610 – down 10.01 per cent;

* Observer, 207,191 – down 5.65 per cent;

* Sunday Telegraph, 408,010 – down 4.71 per cent; and

* Sunday Times, 822,210 – down 3.62 per cent.
