A GROUP of budding young architects paid a visit to a Kemnay housing development to learn more about house design recently.
The pupils from the village’s Alehousewells School visited the Cairn View development by property firm Deveron Homes to find out how houses are designed.
As a key element of their CSR commitment, Huntly-based Deveron Homes have created an innovative schools liaison programme which includes school tours at live developments and collaborative ventures such as the forthcoming public art feature project at Cairn View, Kemnay.
Through this programme the company aims to link with schools to inspire interest in construction as a future career and to encourage wider classroom discussions on the importance of good house design.
Deveron Homes’ sales director, Lynne Holburn said: “We were delighted to welcome the children and teachers to our showhome. During their visit, we toured the site to show them a variety of houses at different stages of construction.
“We then played ‘What’s In The Box’ – a game we’ve created that helps illustrate the multitude of components that are used to build a house. Afterwards, we all enjoyed a little picnic in the back garden of the showhome.”
