FIRSTLY, congratulations to Brendan McGinty, Lorna Hughes and Paul Bryson. They have each been promoted within the Sunday Mail newspaper, Brendan to the post of deputy editor and Lorna and Paul as assistant editors.

AND the Sunday Mail will no doubt be monitoring, with interest, the statement of intent by its rival, the Sunday edition of The Scottish Sun, that is the newly-created post of investigations editor, occupied by its recent former deputy news editor, Russell Findlay.
Findlay joined The Scottish Sun on Sunday four weeks ago, after around 18 years’ service with the Sunday Mail.
