A RADIO Clyde journalist has been nominated in a media awards competition celebrating the best of UK commercial radio.
Connor Gillies has been shortlisted in the Journalist of the Year category of the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards.
Among other Scots nominations is Radio Forth’s Boogie in the Morning breakfast show.
The award winners will be announced on July 3.

A TWO-hour live programme broadcast every weekday has been unveiled as one of the staples of a new local TV channel for Glasgow, launching next month.
The channel – being run by STV in collaboration with Glasgow Caledonian University – is to be broadcast between 1200 and 2400, from June 2. And between 1830 and 2030, weekdays, will be The Riverside Show.
Says STV: “Weather presenter, Storm Huntly, will join Jennifer Reoch and David Farrell live from Pacific Quay [in Glasgow] each weekday evening, 1830 – 2030, for The Riverside Show. Storm, Jennifer and David will be joined by new roving reporter, Colin Stone, who will present from different locations around Glasgow each week night.”
STV Glasgow will begin broadcasting in the west of Scotland on Freeview channel 23, Sky channel 117 and Virgin channel 159.

BBC Scotland and BBC Radio Scotland are to both broadcast live from a men’s international football match between Scotland and Nigeria, later this month.
The friendly international is being played at Craven Cottage, in London – home to Fulham FC.
Says the BBC of the fixture, on the 28th: “Nigeria will use the match as preparation for the World Cup finals, where they will face Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran.”

BEGINS The Herald, today: “The BBC has lost its appeal over a ban on journalists naming an immigrant who was deported after being jailed for gross indecency with a child.
“Corporation lawyers argued that a Scottish court was wrong to bar foreign national “A” from being identified after he said he would be at risk of ‘life threatening’ violence when he returned home, but a panel of five Supreme Court justices – unanimously upheld the ban.”
