THE Scottish Newspaper Society has launched a website.
Says a media release announcing the launch: “The site, www.scotns.org.uk, actually became active just before the inaugural SNS conference on April 24 and now carries several of the presentations from the day.
“Working with SNS director, John McLellan, the site was designed and developed by the head of digital innovation at The Herald & Times, Grant Gibson.”

THE SCOTTISH Sun newspaper has received several nominations in a competition celebrating the best of online media.
Among the categories the paper has been shortlisted for is Best Designed Site.
The Edinburgh Evening News is also among the nominees, in the awards run by the Glasgow-based media and marketing magazine, The Drum.

EDINBURGH-based media planning and buying agency, MediaCom Edinburgh, has been named among the latest recipients of awards recognising their staff training.
The agency was one among 27 to yesterday receive a ‘gold accreditation’ from the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising, for its continuing professional development.

‘TECHNICAL issues’ are responsible for The Herald appearing today in a different format.
Instead of a broadsheet main newspaper accompanied by a compact-size sports supplement, it is, instead, two broadsheet sections.
Says the paper, it is seeking to resolve the technical issues at its print site in Cambuslang “as quickly as possible”.

THE finance journalist, Jeff Salway, who writes for The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, has been named winner in an UK-wide media awards competition.
The personal finance editor at the two titles was declared the winner of the Financial/Business Financial Journalist of the Year (local and regional) category of the Headlinemoney Awards.
The awards seek to recognise ‘outstanding achievement in the UK’s financial media’.
The Herald’s Simon Bain was highly commended in the same category.
