A LEADING Highland house builder has made a key appointment to drive forward the continued expansion of the firm.
Inverness-based Roy Homes has appointed Greig Fulton as finance director and operations manager after experiencing record growth.
The firm’s turnover has grown from £1million in 2009, to in excess of £10 million, with the creation of 30 new jobs since September 2013.
Plans are in place to project similar employment growth over the next six months to cope with demand from customers.
Managing director of Roy Homes, Chris Barnett, said: “We’ve now become the largest bespoke builder in Moray and our increased job requirements underline the pace at which Roy Homes is progressing.
“Our total staff and full-time permanent sub-contractors has doubled in three years to 150, and we will require to recruit a number of new employees by the autumn to meet the workload and strategy.
“We’ll hand over ten custom-build new homes in March, which is twice as many as the same month last year. Having come from a £1million turnover five years ago to £10 million now, means that it was important to make a senior appointment, which is why I’m delighted to have been able to bring someone of Greig Fulton’s calibre to the business.
“His experience is of great importance to our plan to keep positioning Roy Homes at the leading edge of the bespoke housing market.”
Mr Fulton, who lives in Inverness, has more than 20 years experience as a qualified chartered accountant and has worked in London and the Middle East for some of the world’s most prestigious accountancy giants.
Latterly, he was chief accountant at Barchester Healthcare in Inverness, overseeing their active new build programme.
He said: “This is a stimulating new challenge. While the volume builders have had a tough time during the global downturn, Roy Homes has been able to sail against the tide and enjoy significant growth, sending turnover up by a thousand per cent.
“The company has enjoyed striking success in offering fixed price custom-built one-off properties. Now that it is able to offer a plot of land in the package as well, its market position is being strengthened.
“Managing such growth, and the range of divisions now within the Roy Homes Group portfolio, is a task where my own expertise can play a part in assisting and advising Chris Barnett, freeing him up to take a constructive overview in driving the business forward.”
