Your Noon Briefing: Hayman to retrace Weir’s Way, BAFTA nomination for Finestripe, etc

THE Scots actor and broadcaster, David Hayman, is to retrace the footsteps of the popular STV programme series from yesteryear, Weir’s Way.

The re-make has begun filming – says a STV media release, here.

The release continues: “On Weir’s Way with David Hayman will air later in the year and is currently being filmed in locations across Scotland, including Applecross, Crianlarich to Oban, Torridon and Loch Maree.”

The original aired between 1976 and 1987.

A GLASGOW independent TV production company has been nominated in the highly prestigious TV awards organised by the British Academy for the Film and Television Arts.

Finestripe’s nomination in the BAFTA TV Awards is in the Single Documentary category, for The Day Kennedy Died, described by the company as ‘a minute-by-minute account of events in Dallas’ surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22 1963.

The winners are announced on the 18th of next month.

A GLASGOW graphic design, digital and branding agency is reportedly on track to turn over more than £500,000, just two years after commencing operations.

Writes Scott Wright, in The Herald: “The new accounts for Made Brave, due to be filed at the end of this month, cap a meteoric rise for a business founded when its owner had just £1,000 in the bank and a newborn to feed.”

THE managing director of the Aberdeen media and comms agency, AVC Media Enterprises, has purchased three divisions within it, calling the new entity, AVC Media.

The purchase by Spencer Buchan – for a six-figure sum, according to a media release issued by AVC Media – is of AVC Media Enterprise’s creative division, plus its audio-visual and offshore solutions one and its media and sports one.

And in the meantime, the founder and chair of AVC Media Enterprises, Keith Main, retains a conference and business centre operation in Aberdeen plus a workwear division, calling his new venture, KMD Scotland.

The release adds that former Rangers Football Club chief executive, Martin Bain, has been appointed to the AVC Media board in a non-executive director role.
