Media Release: Major media conference in Edinburgh

THE full agenda has been published for The Scotsman Conferences’ second major media event, on April 30.

The Media in Scotland: What Does The Digital Future Look Like? will be the first chance to hear Jeff Moriarty, formerly of The New York Times and Boston Globe, outline how his US experiences will shape his new role as chief digital and product officer at Johnston Press.

Douglas Fraser, BBC Scotland’s business sditor, will take the print media to task for a ‘disastrous failure to adapt to change’, while broadcaster-turned academic, Marisa De Andrade, will present a critique of the PR industry and ethics in the digital age.

The digital future will also be discussed by Shaun Milne, editor, Advance and Stream Content (Digital Publishing) with STV, Kate Higgins, one of Scotland’s leading bloggers, and Graham Bryce, managing director of Bauer Scotland. Craig McGill, digital strategist with event sponsor, Weber Shandwick, will look even further into the digital future.

There will also be discussions about the media and Scottish identity, featuring journalist and ex-MP Brian Wilson, Professor Raymond Boyle from the University of Glasgow and writer and commentator Joyce McMillan. She will address the issue of A New Media for A New Scotland.

The conference takes place at The National Galleries of Scotland on the morning of April 30 and will be chaired by experienced writer and broadcaster Sheena McDonald. To book, visit www.scotsmanconferences.com
