A LEADING North-east recruitment firm is gearing up to direct drivers on the road to success, as it launches a new professional training course.
Genesis Personnel, which has offices in Aberdeen and Peterhead, has teamed up with experienced training firm, North Training Services, to provide Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training, ahead of new regulations coming into place this year.
The recruitment firm, which has a specialised driving department, will be working in partnership with North Training Services to ensure that LGV drivers complete the mandatory training by the September 2014 deadline.
The regulations, introduced by the Government in 2009, aim to improve the standards in the industry, increase safety on Britain’s roads and develop driver’s knowledge and skills.
The compulsory training will require all drivers of LGVs, over 3.5 tonnes, to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years.
Failing to comply could lead to many drivers losing their right to drive commercially.
John North, of North Training Services, said: “It is important that all drivers, new and existing, understand that this legal training is not going away.
“Without this qualification, drivers will simply not be allowed to drive and if they don’t do it before the September 2014 cut off, they could face serious fines.”

The courses will cover, drivers essentials, loads and loading, licence protection, digi tachos and H&S awareness, SAFED, customer care and driver security. Courses cost £65 per person + VAT, with prices negotiable for group bookings.
