A REPORTER on the Dundee-based Evening Telegraph newspaper has won a prize recognising his performance in training run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists.
Michael Owens has won the TS Murray Award for his performance in the National Qualification in Journalism.
The award, sponsored by the Society of Editors, is presented annually for the best NQJ result achieved during the year by a candidate employed by a Scottish newspaper.
In a NCTJ media release, Owens is quoted, as saying: “I was really pleased to pass my senior exams in the summer, and I’m delighted to have won this award as well.”
The release continued: “Michael studied for his preliminary exams at Press Association in Newcastle in 2011 and passed his NQJ exams in July 2013. The NQJ is the professional senior qualification offered by the NCTJ that examines all-round competence in a range of fundamental skills.”
