THE BBC Scotland sports presenter, Paul Barnes, has joined STV to report sport for the station’s Edinburgh and the East news programming.
He begins from this evening and, says STV, “his experience includes reporting on Open Championship golf and Wimbledon and he was previously at Sky Sports News Radio”.
A STV media release quotes head of news, Gordon Macmillan, as saying: “Paul joins a strong team delivering national and local coverage on all the top sports stories, including Raman Bhardwaj in Glasgow and Tyrone Smith in the North. Sport is an integral part of what we deliver at STV and we appreciate viewers want to consume all the latest information on air and online. Paul will undoubtedly become a familiar face for viewers in the East who want all the latest news from Hearts, Hibernian and Murrayfield.”
It is understood his appointment will have no impact on STV’s existing roster of sports presenters.
