A DOCUMENTARY celebrating the 30th anniversary of the TV crime drama series, Taggart, is to be screened next week.
The programme has been unveiled by its makers, STV, as part of its Autumn schedule – announced this morning.
Says STV, in a media release: “The documentary features some of the very best Taggart moments, from Mark McManus’ first appearance in 1983 to the unravelling of DI Robbie Ross’ career, revisiting some of the popular characters of the iconic police drama. The half-hour programme will be followed by a classic Taggart episode.”
It screens next Friday, at 8.30pm.
Other Autumn highlights include:
* From Monday, a new cooking series, Paul and Nick’s Big Food Trip, is to air for eight weeks at 8pm. “The 30-minute programmes follow top celebrity chefs, Paul Rankin and Nick Nairn, as they set off on a culinary journey around the coast of Scotland and Northern Ireland. It is produced by Waddell Media for STV and UTV.
* On Tuesday, September 10, at 9pm, a doucmentary about Scot, Gerry Hughes (pictured), the first deaf person to sail single-handed around the world, passing all five capes. Silent Odyssey: Incredible Stories is produced by independent production companies, 5 Minute Network and AC2.com
The release quotes Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of channels at STV, as saying: “The forthcoming Autumn schedule shows STV continues to invest in original content alongside popular network programmes. We aim to provide something for everyone with a great mix of drama, entertainment, news and current affairs.”
