The Press and Journal, the best-selling quality newspaper in Scotland and fourth biggest regional paper in the UK, is seeking to fill two key editorial vacancies:
BUSINESS REPORTER:
The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual, with lots of good ideas and an ability to build contacts, who will break exclusive business stories and maintain our reputation as the first source to turn to for business news in our area, which includes the north-east of Scotland, the Highlands, Western Isles and Orkney/Shetland.
You will join our talented business team, which works at the heart of Scotland’s oil and gas industry in Aberdeen and the expanding renewable-energy sector, along with covering other important business sectors in our area.
Candidates must have a proven journalistic track record in this field or other relevant news background. A full clean driving licence is essential.
NEWS SUB-EDITOR
We are also looking for a qualified sub-editor to join our news team.
The Press and Journal has a busy and challenging nightly production schedule, which delivers six editions every morning to a huge circulation area across the north and north-east of Scotland. One of the most exciting aspects is the numerous page changes which take place during the process.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player, with relevant experience of this work in a newspaper environment and a good grasp of the English language. Good copy-editing and headline skills are important. Page-layout experience would be an advantage, but training can be given.
