THE current affairs programme on STV, Scotland Tonight, will be taking a break for the Summer, following this evening’s broadcast.
The show – presented by John MacKay and Rona Dougall – will be back on August 12.
Scotland Tonight regularly reaches over 430,000 viewers across Scotland each week. The programme’s Twitter account (@ScotlandTonight) has over 13,000 followers and averages around 1,400 tweets a week.
In a STV media release, Gordon Macmillan, head of News at STV, is quoted, as saying: “Strong viewing figures and positive feedback show Scotland Tonight is the most popular Scottish current affairs programme, connecting with people across Scotland on the issues that matter to them.
“Scotland Tonight’s modern style and varied subject matter make it unique among current affairs programmes and we give viewers the opportunity to hear arguments from both sides of the discussion in the lead-up to the big events.
“We look forward to returning with more in-depth analysis, discussion and debate after the summer, including providing a platform for debate around all the key issues of the 2014 referendum.”
