WELCOME to Media Movers, reporting the latest moves within the Scottish media, including promotions and retirements.
WE begin by congratulating Andrew Picken on his appointment as political editor at The Sunday Post newspaper. He’s been in post for the last two weeks.
He has joined from the Scottish Daily Mail, where he was for four years, firstly as political correspondent and latterly as Scottish political editor.
Before the Scottish Daily Mail, he was at the Edinburgh Evening News – for four years, as council reporter.
He joined the Edinburgh Evening News eight years ago from the Dunfermline Press.

MEANWHILE, at the Greenock Telegraph evening newspaper, Brian Hossack has been named editor, after having been acting editor since January.
Announcing the decision, Graham Morrison, managing director of the paper’s publisher, Romanes Media Group, said: “I am confident that Brian will cope with the challenges set by this demanding role, and I am certain that his colleagues will join with me in wishing him every success in this important position.”

ON-going re-shaping of The Scotsman has seen two departures, as the paper seeks to find volunteers for redundancy. Plans to reduce features content has resulted in senior features writer, Lee Randall, leaving, along with her features writer colleague, Alice Wylie.

AND finally, at the Edinburgh Evening News, John-Paul Holden is the new education correspondent. He succeeds Laura Cummings, who has taken up a communications post with First ScotRail.
John-Paul was previously a general reporter on the paper.
