A VOLUNTARY organisation at a leading Aberdeen nursing home is preparing for a new era following the departure of its inaugural chairperson.
The Friends of Hawkhill House was established in 2009 by Rona Tayler, owner and managing director of Aberdeen’s only independently owned private nursing home.
The group comprises relatives and friends of residents past and present, and aims to support the wide range of activities offered both within the home and further afield.
Commenting on her time as chairperson of the Friends of Hawkhill House, Marilyn Paterson – whose late mother was a resident – said: “I was delighted to become the organisation’s first chairperson and have found my time to be worthwhile and rewarding in many ways.
“The role of the Friends is to provide support to Rona Tayler and her team in the interesting and varied programme of activities they provide such as outings, barbecues in the grounds and pet therapy sessions.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed playing a part in these occasions and I wish the Friends all the very best for the future.”
Rona Tayler added: “We are indebted to Marilyn for her assistance since the Friends was formalised in 2009 and we hope that other people will be inspired by the group’s activities. We are always keen to hear from anyone who would like to get involved, whether they have a relative or friend staying at Hawkhill or not.”
Hawkhill House Nursing Home is located at 234 North Deeside Road, Milltimber, Aberdeen, AB13 0DQ.
