A BLEAK assessment of The Scotsman’s fortunes since it was taken over by the current owners, Johnston Press, has been published by the journal, the British Journalism Review.
Writes Arthur MacMillan – a former education correspondent on sister title, Scotland on Sunday: “Johnston Press, more than any other, is the British newspaper company that ate itself.”
The company purchased The Scotsman seven years ago.
MacMillan is a former media correspondent for the Sunday Herald.
He is now a foreign correspondent and news editor for Agence France-Presse (AFP), currently based in Washington.
