THE organisers of the TweedLove Cycling Festival, in conjunction with Alpine Bikes, are looking for volunteers to help make the ten-day bike festival the best ever.

Help is needed for all kinds of jobs, from market research and publicity to race marshalling and stewarding.

“Last year, TweedLove was a big success not only in numbers of visitors and income generated, but just as importantly, because everyone thoroughly enjoyed the events and the friendly atmosphere. Our volunteers play a massive part in that,” said organiser Neil Dalgleish.

“Last year, so many riders commented on what a great reception they were given, and, to be honest, it doesn’t surprise me. The Tweed Valley has an amazing population of cycle fans, and they’re proud to share the good times our local roads and trails can offer.”

TweedLove aims to increase the smile factor for cyclists even further this year, with new events and an extended ten-day festival programme. As well as calling for local people to lend a hand and join the fun, organisers are keen for visitors to join in the events and volunteer too.

“Volunteering at TweedLove is a great chance to get involved, meet like minded people from the Tweed Valley and put something back into the sport,” added Neil.

Even if people are only available for a limited time, either before the event or during the festival itself, all help is most welcome, and the volunteers certainly won’t go unrewarded.

Neil Dalgleish concluded: “As well as having a great time, all our TweedLove volunteers will get a goody bag and an official TweedLove crew T shirt. And we’re going to have a great party afterwards for all the volunteers. Of course, they’ll also receive our eternal gratitude!”

All volunteers need to be over 16 years old.  Previous volunteer experience is not necessary.

The extended ten-day TweedLove bike festival programme of open races, big guided rides (both on and off road), film (including a film-making competition) and concert nights, dual slalom and barbecue and a series of informal ride-outs will run from 26 May to 5 June.
