LEADING public relations and public affairs consultancy, Weber Shandwick, has been shortlisted for a top industry award by the Public Relations Consultants Associations (PRCA).
Weber Shandwick has been named as a finalist in the Crisis Communications category for the strategy implemented by the consultancy’s team in Aberdeen on behalf of Bristow Helicopters during the volcanic ash chaos this year.
Says a spokesperson: “This award recognises Weber Shandwick for delivering exceptional response activity and crisis communications during a time of mass disruption to the aviation industry and high media interest.”
Nora Senior, managing director of Weber Shandwick, said: “Crisis communications is one of our great strengths and we have a long track record of having highly effective crisis systems in place to enable our consultants to respond at short notice to any emergency. This award showcases the high standard of work our Aberdeen team delivers for our clients. To be shortlisted for such a major UK award is a significant achievement.
“The PRCA Awards recognise the very best in the industry throughout the UK and are chosen by fellow industry professionals. This year Weber Shandwick has been shortlisted for eight prestigious awards across its UK offices including the top award of the night, International Consultancy of the Year.”
Peter Gay, Bristow’s head of Commercial, said: “It was essential that we were able to reassure our clients, passengers and employees that we were taking every precaution possible to ensure their safety during the volcanic ash situation. The support Weber Shandwick provided in helping us achieve that was crucial. They kept in constant contact with our operational team in Aberdeen who worked around the clock to provide the necessary details to ensure everyone was kept informed.”
The Aberdeen team which specialises in providing PR and ER support to clients within the energy industry as well as sectors including property, IT and leisure and tourism, will find out if they have won the top award at a ceremony at London’s Park Lane Hilton on the 26th October.
