Media Release: CLAN Cancer Support opens the doors of current headquarters

AN Aberdeen-headquartered cancer support charity is giving members of the public the chance to visit its current base before it moves to a new purpose built home.

CLAN Cancer Support is opening the doors of its Caroline Place centre during July and August, with the first event taking place on Saturday, July 09.

It is hoped the series of open events will give clients, supporters, volunteers and staff, both past and present, the opportunity to visit the current CLAN House before the charity moves to its new headquarters on Aberdeen’s Westburn Road in the autumn.

The charity will host four open house events during the summer, where, as well as giving people the chance to tour the centre, information and photographs showing how the former Rosemount Church was converted into CLAN’s current centre as well as plans and photographs of the new centre will be on display.

Debbie Thomson, CLAN chief executive, feels it is important to ensure everyone can visit the centre before the charity moves.

She said: “The purpose of opening the centre is to give everyone who wishes to visit CLAN House the opportunity to do so in an informal manner.

“CLAN House has been a special place for so many people over the last 15 years, and the move will be an emotional time for many.

“Former clients, volunteers and staff will all be made very welcome as will members of the community who may have their own memories of CLAN House as the former Rosemount Church.

“Volunteers will also be on hand during the events, and some quiet areas will be available to anyone who wishes to have a reflective moment. And of course, no CLAN House event would be complete without tea, coffee and biscuits.”

CLAN House will be open during two afternoons on Saturday, July 09 and Saturday, August 20, between 1.00 – 4.00pm and during the evenings of Tuesday, July 12, and Wednesday, August 17, between 5.00 – 8.00pm.

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which offers support to anyone affected by cancer. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.

CLAN is also developing services in the community and now has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Orkney and Shetland.
