The Daily Record has paid tribute to one of the two drivers killed on Friday on the A9, when two lorries were involved in a head-on collision.
After it emerged that one of the drivers was a former Daily Record driver, John Sommerville, the paper quoted John Reid, senior warehouse assistant at publishers, Media Scotland, as saying: “John we a brilliant guy and an outstanding driver. He had leukaemia when he was a kid but he managed to beat it.
“He was passionate about newspapers and worked as a van boy – loading the papers for delivery – before becoming a driver.”
It is understood that Sommerville was an employee of John Menzies Distribution, on his way north with a load of newspapers.
