A student at Glasgow University has been named a winner at UK-wide awards recognising excellence in the reporting of human rights issues.
Amy Mackinnon picked up the Student prize at the Amnesty International Media Awards.
Her winning article – The Curious Case of John Oguchuckwu, for the university newspaper, the Glasgow Guardian – was about a Nigerian student returned by the UK authorities to his home country.
Among the awards, one was presented posthumously to Marie Colvin, who died earlier this year while reporting for the Sunday Times from Syria.
