ONE of the UK’s most prominent newspaper proprietors is said to have upped his stake in the publisher of The Scotsman, Johnston Press.
Reports the BBC and today’s Herald newspaper, Sir Ray Tindle, who owns more than 200 local papers, has increased his shareholding to eight per cent, after having bought a further 600,500 shares, worth £36,000.
Says The Herald, the move means his shareholding is now up to 51.2million shares with a market value of £3.1million, making him the third largest shareholder in Johnston Press.
