THE traditional preserve of football clubs recording a song ahead of a Cup final has been joined by the local newspaper serving the two clubs competiting in this year’s Scottish Cup final.
Staff at the Edinburgh Evening News have recorded an east coast version of the Pet Shop Boys’ ‘Go West’, at the suggestion of recently-appointed editor, Frank O’Donnell.
A week on Saturday, Hibernian take on Hearts in an attempt to win the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1902, the two Edinburgh teams having last met in the final of the tournament in 1896.
O’Donnell shares the credits for the lyrics with art and entertainment editor, Liam Rudden, and Clare Smith, of the Scottish Government.
