THE senior editorial team at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail, plus its local newspaper sister titles and digital offering, has been unveiled.
Media Scotland – the Scottish operation of publishers, Trinity Mirror – has announced that Murray Foote, currently deputy editor of the Daily Record, has been made group editor, while Stephen Martin, currently Scotland editor of the Sunday Mirror, has been made group content editor. Foote’s post will be mostly about design and production.
They will both report to Allan Rennie, Media Scotland editor-in-chief, and work alongside Alan Woodison, group editor (local titles), and Ewan Watt, digital director.
Says a Trinity Mirror statement: “Murray and Stephen will focus on developing the circulation of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail as well as supporting the group’s local titles.
“Murray, a former editor of the Scottish Mirror, helped pioneer the editorial. ContentWatch system at Trinity Mirror nationals, while Stephen produced agenda-setting stories during his 12 years at the Sunday Mirror and a previous spell as senior reporter at the Daily Record.”
Rennie is quoted in the statement, as saying: “It is only right that Scotland’s biggest newspaper publisher attracts the best talent. With Murray and Stephen now on board with Ewan and Alan, we have a formidable team that will deliver the goods for our national and local titles.”
