A BRIGHT future for newspapers has been predicted by the publisher of The Sunday Post, DC Thomson.
In a page lead, on page 11 of yesterday’s Sunday Post, the paper declares: “DC Thomson has a proud newspaper heritage and we believe the industry can have a bright future.”
It follows sister title, The Courier, going compact the previous day. Its Aberdeen sister title, The Press and Journal, had gone compact six days a week from last Tuesday.
Added The Sunday Post: ”Readers are at the centre of such changes – you want easier-to-read, user-friendly papers with the same top-class content. And that’s what we’ve delivered.
“And your favourite family read, The Sunday Post, has continued to develop to meet your high expectations too.
“In the last exciting year we’ve added more colour, more pages, and launched two fantastic full-colour travel and entertainment supplements.
“Our new-improved sports sections offer unrivalled coverage while we continue to provide a brilliant blend of news, features and amazing reader competitions.
“Our continued investment and development demonstrates our commitment to that future – and most importantly to you, our readers.”
Meanwhile, a production glitch saw a slightly slimmed-down copy of today’s Courier going to newsagents, as explained in an apology issued by the paper, here.
