THE second book by a former football reporter on the Edinburgh Evening News is being launched tomorrow evening.
Hands on Hearts is the memoir of the former Hearts FC physiotherapist, Alan Rae, who was with the club for 23 years until six years ago. It has been co-written with Paul Kiddie, who is now the club’s communications manager following ten years with the Edinburgh Evening News, six of them as Hearts Reporter.
He joined Hearts four years ago, following a short spell working in Florida.
This is Kiddie’s second book, his first, Great Tynecastle Tales, co-written with the Scottish Daily Mail’s Rob Robertson and published six years ago.
A portion of the proceeds from Hands on Hearts is being donated to the local Sick Kids hospital.
The book’s launch is taking place in Waterstone’s in its Edinburgh Princes Street (West End) branch at 6pm. Various former Hearts players are expected to join Rae and Kiddie. Tickets are £2, redeemable against a purchase of the book, on the night.
Hearts FC is currently operating a media ban until at least Thursday, following objections about the reporting of its manager’s comments about a referee.
