A Scots writer who includes the comedy TV series, Mock the Week, is among the tutors who are assisting a group of people with long-term illness prepare for their own stand-up show during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Steven Dick has been joined by fellow comedians, Jojo Sutherland, Paul Sneddon, Raymond Mearns and Viv Gee, in helping to stage The Clinic, taking place for one night only later this month.
Taking to the mic will be people with a variety of illnesses, including depression, for whom comedy and working towards staging the show is proving to be a huge self-confidence boost.
In a statement issued by the organisers, Donald Grant from Penicuik, who was diagnosed with depression two years ago, is quoted, as saying: “The course has helped me ease back to being able to be comfortable in the company of a group of people again.”
The course has been run by the Glasgow charity, Universal Comedy.
The Clinic Show is on Tuesday August 16 at 7pm at The Gilded Balloon, Bristo Square, Edinburgh.
