The Scottish Daily Express is seeking a new chief sub-editor, following a decision by current deputy night editor, Paul Carnahan, to leave full-time journalism to help further expand his wife, Beth’s burgeoning cosmetics distribution business – Gracefruit, based in Longcroft, Stirlingshire.
The resulting re-shuffle of the paper's 'back bench' means current chief sub, Andy Melvin, will step into Carnahan’s shoes, thus leaving the chief sub’s position vacant.
Carnahan, who has been in post for over nine years, is currently serving notice but is expected to return to the Express in the future as a casual shifter.
He said: “It’ll be a wrench to leave the paper and all the good people here, but it feels right for our fledgling family business which is growing and taking up more time. Happily, I’ll be able to come back to the paper and work on a casual basis.”
The post is being advertised on allmediascotland, here. And also here.
