The Daily Mail sketch writer, Quentin Letts, penned an attack on Scottish independence, for his paper's Saturday edition; except that it didn't appear in the Scottish Daily Mail – much to the amusement of yesterday's Scotland on Sunday.
In its Drumlanrig column, SoS reports: “Quentin Letts, caustic sketch writer for the Daily Mail, made his views on independence pretty clear in an article entitled, ‘Good riddance!’, in yesterday’s edition.
“Letts declared himself fed up at ‘ungrateful Scots gorging money’. He noted many other benefits too. ‘We could even have a BBC without Scottish accents. Goodbye Jim Naughtie. Adios Kirsty Wark’.
“Then he moved on to moaning about the whopping subsidy given to Jockland …’and still the rotten tartan-sporran danglers complain!’, Letts exclaimed.
“Unsurprisingly, editors for the Daily Mail’s Scottish edition decided this was not a piece their readership would enjoy, and replaced it with something else.”
