A number of media folk are heading to Aberdeen this weekend to contribute to the 11th Aberdeen Word Festival – the writers' festival run by Aberdeen University.
Among the media personalities taking part are Helen Warner, the head of Daytime TV for Channel 4 and author of the novel, RSVP; USA-born Tim Dowling, a regular columnist in the Weekend Guardian; former New Scientist editor, Michael Brooks; former ITN newscaster, John Suchet; transport journalist, Christian Wolmar; and Cupar-based film producer, Douglas Eadie.
BBC News environment and science correspondent, David Shukman, will be discussing his recent book, Reporting Live from the End of the World, which captures the diversity, importance and impact of his journalistic expeditions.
Aberdeen is the only UK University that organises a major literary festival and the event last year drew more than 11,000 people.
The festival, whose media partner is the Sunday Herald, opens on Friday morning and runs through until Sunday night.
