Freebies are now a staple fare of the promotional and marketing campaigns of the newspaper industry across the UK.
Some of the products come physcially inside the newspaper; others are dependent on presenting a voucher at a specific retail outlet; and still others require collecting a series of vouchers which are dispatched to the newspaper to claim the booty.
The Scottish Daily Express obviously feels that, in the current economic crisis, basic household food buys might 'do the trick'.
Hence, had a voucher from the SDE been presented yesterday, the reward would have been a tin of beans.
Tomorrow, it's a 1kg bag of sugar.
And the Scottish Daily Express isn't the only one. Yesterday's Daily Record was also in on the act… offering a free toothbrush and toothpaste voucher with a RRP value of just under £4.
