The Sunday Herald will be hoping to get a circulation boost yesterday – thanks to a cut-price coupon available the previous day in its sister paper, The Herald.
On the day the Sunday Herald broke slightly from its current single-section ‘news magazine format, by launching a 20-page sports supplement, readers who bought The Herald could present newsagents with a coupon knocking 80p off the normal cover price of £1.30. The cut-price offer will also apply this coming weekend.
As well as carrying a poster in the sports supplement previewing the Scotland versus Brazil friendly football match in London, the paper pointed out: “You’ll notice a few other changes in this week’s issue. Some readers had asked for a second crossword. We’re happy to oblige …in fact, we’re now publishing three crosswords: our regular prize crossword and two speed and general knowledge challenges.”
The latest set of official circulation figures had the Sunday Herald suffering a 21 per cent year-on-year drop in its sales in Scotland, down to an average 32,936 during last month. But it is understood that sales have since no longer dropped, stabilising around 32,000-33,000.
