A former writer at The Scotsman been named Feature Writer of the Year at an awards ceremony celebrating the best of foreign affairs journalism.
Dan McDougall was awarded his prize at the Foreign Press Association of London Awards, held this week at the Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair.
Current Africa correspondent for the Sunday Times, McDougall won his title for work published in the Mail on Sunday Live Magazine, including undercover investigations into Blood Diamonds in Zimbabwe and the plight of child rape victims in South Africa.
Earlier this year, he was awarded his second Amnesty International Award for Human Rights Journalism and was also named International Journalist of the Year at the One World Awards in London. This year, his work has also been commended at the British Press Awards and by the jury of The Martha Gellhorn Prize for War Reporting.
He is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa.
