Readers of the Edinburgh Evening News are for the first time being offered the chance to subscribe to the paper, to potentially save themselves over £40 per year.
The move coincides with an increase, from today, of the cover price, from 45p to 48p
The subscription offer provides the opportunity to save some 30 per cent for those who purchase the six-days-a-week title on a regular basis. The subscription will work via vouchers and direct debit payments, with an option to have the paper delivered or pick it up at a retailer.
The newspaper's publisher, Johnston Press, is understood to have been encouraged by the take-up of subscriptions for its Yorkshire Post title.
