Ah, the pitfalls of giving website addresses in newspaper articles when you have to ensure that such addresses don’t 'turn' in the copy with a hyphen.
The Sunday Post has fallen foul of this pitfall this week with its editorial panel on page 2 which gives detailed information to readers on how to contact it – explaining: ”we want to hear your news, tip-offs, and ideas for stories, or thoughts on any matter.”
The newspaper’s correct e-mail contact address is mail@sundaypost.com
However, in the 'turn', it appears as mail@sunday-post.com
It meant one frustrated reader repeatedly kept getting his e-mail returned when he tried to e-mail the DC Thomson newspaper.
Eventually, he telephoned the switchboard to explain his frustration, and consternation, and all became clear.
