FOUR students are being given the opportunity to work on the making of the STV crime drama, Taggart.
Over two weeks, the students – two from Edinburgh Napier University, one from Adam Smith College and the other from Cardonald College – will be firstly provided an overview of the entire production process. They will then have the opportunity to spend more time in the area of their choice, such as post-production, cameras, lighting, sound and script editing.
The students, who were chosen following competitive application, are Rowena Smith, studying for an HND in Television at Adam Smith College; Neil Dallimore, who has just graduated with an HND in Creative Industries from Cardonald College; Lorna Berridge, who is studying for a BA (Hons) in Television at Edinburgh Napier University; and Craig Taylor, also studying for a BA (Hons) in Television at Edinburgh Napier University.
The work placements were set up at STV with the help of the sector skills body for creative media, Skillset.
Says Taggart producer, Marcus Wilson: “We’re delighted to offer four students the opportunity to grasp what we hope will be a very valuable experience on the set of a full-scale network production. This is an incredibly beneficial way of learning about the trade, and getting right in amongst the production crew whilst we’re in the midst of a very busy shoot, will be fantastic experience for these students.”
Recently, STV hosted an Open Day in conjunction with Skillset for 25 media students, to gain an insight to the various departments at STV.
