INVERNESS-based radio station, Moray Firth Radio, has netted a presenter’s prize at an awards ceremony celebrating the best of commercial radio.
At the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards, held last night, the station’s ‘Knoxy’ won the Radio Presenter of the Year category for a small station which broadcasts to a population below 300,000.
Last month, the station was the winner of a Sony Radio Academy gold medal, as best radio station serving a population up to 300,000.
Yesterday’s ceremony was particularly good for LBC talkshow host, Nick Ferrari, and Bauer Media – which operates a number of radio stations in Scotland, including Clyde, Forth and Moray Firth Radio.
Ferrari, who missed out at the Sony Radio Academy Awards despite receiving five nominations, won two awards. Bauer Media, meanwhile, won a total of five awards, including Station of the Year (broadcasting to a potential audience of more than one million people) for Hallam FM in South Yorkshire and the North Midlands.
Moray Firth Radio had been also nominated as ‘UK Local Commercial Radio Station of the Year’ and ‘Specialist Presenter of the Year’ categories, the latter for Marion Scott.
